The final of the fourball competition was closely contested at Milngavie GC yesterday between the duo of Gerry McCormick and Owen McHugh against Bruce Cobburn and Eddie Connolly.

With driving rain making conditions difficult for all the players, it was Bruce and Eddie who won through in the end to win the Rose Henery Scroll.

Congratulations to them and to all competitors who took part in this years competition.

This is an excellent opportunity for those considering joining The Society to meet current members in a very friendly and social atmosphere. Any prospective new members considering attending are invited to make themselves known to The Secretary prior to the AGM.

Can all members currently in possession of trophies please return these to The Secretary prior to the end of March in order that they can be engraved and formally presented to you on the night of the AGM. Your co-operation is appreciated.

Please remember to bring a small raffle prize with you on the night. All funds raised help The Society in tournament organisation.

An invitation is extended to all members who may be considering taking an active part in the running of The Society and wish to be nominated for any committee position. They should make their interest known to any existing committee member prior to the AGM as all Office Bearing positions (except Captain) will be subject to election/re-election on the night of the AGM.

Competition Results

Doubles – He has done it again! An enviable double victory for Ricky Marshall as he adds his name to the doubles trophy in addition to his earlier singles win. Aided (occasionally hindered?) by his playing partner Bruce Cobburn, the finalists played at Balmore Golf Club, hosted by Gerry McCormick and joined by playing partner Paul Donnelly. In a tight match, played in excellent sportsmanship and typifying the spirit that exists within the society, Ricky and Bruce ran out the eventual winners. Congratulations go to all our finalists this year.

Singles – In a closely fought final match, held on the Allander Course at Hilton Park, Ricky Marshall beat David Sutherland by the narrowest of margins, just one hole. Well done to both players for reaching the final and congratulations to Ricky on his win.

All the results from the 2009 season are now available to view in the Competitions section.
